Finding proper vegetarian food here is difficult, baba, and Jain food with no root vegetables is nearly impossible in the dining hall. I survive on plain rice, yogurt, and lentils when they have it, and I cook simple khichdi in my dorm's shared kitchen on a hot plate. The obvious answer is to ask for special meals, but my experience is they nod politely and nothing changes—so my specific thing is the small electric kettle I use to boil potatoes and peas, my real dinner most nights.
