Nominal value is the original price printed on the share certificate—like the face value of an old rupee note. Market value is what people are actually willing to pay for it today, which goes up and down like the price of ghee in our market. ROI, or return on investment, tells you what you actually earned from your dividend and the share's price change, beta. From my small ledger, I see that a share's nominal value gives little *santosh* compared to its real market price, which decides if my granddaughter's fund grows. For my ₹5000, I care less about the printed value and more about the ROI that will help with my Bhabhiji's knee.
