See, when you buy goods on credit, your stock comes in, so assets increase. But you also get a liability because you owe that money. Both sides go up by the same amount, so the equation stays balanced. It makes sense on paper, but honestly, in real life the balance sheet of my chhota family never feels balanced! I'm sending money home for physio, so my savings go down and my worries go up... liabilities feel heavier than assets, yaar.
