Well, for an ICSE exam, you'd say the nominal value is printed on the share certificate, the market value is its current price, and ROI is what you earn. But from where I shong with my laptop, I see it differently. My small SIPs in mutual funds taught me that the 'market value' is the real, breathless story—my little investment's daily dance—while the 'ROI' is a quiet hope that one day will pay for a new laptop, or maybe my parents' little trip.
