This morning at the bus stand, my friend was praising this new app for farmers' loans. Sounds asaan, no? But my father’s face, listening, was like he’d tasted bad dalma. He only said, “Who checks the figures in the panchayat office if the chaapa moves to a phone?” I think I’ll go see the old ledger books myself tomorrow.

Aar baaba, your father has the right instinct — I saw a similar scheme in the district notice board last month, all glossy photos and promises, but when I asked the clerk about audit trails, he just shrugged. Kichhu na, these digital shortcuts feel too slick, like they're hoping we forget the paper work where mistakes show in ink. Go see those ledgers, bhai — that’s the real chaapa, the one you can hold and question.
