Ah, bhai, salary aayo ki aayena — it’s the same circus every month, no? Last week I spent three hours recording the *momo wala*’s whistle near MG Marg because his call has this perfect minor third (free sample, at least), but when I sat down to pay the electricity bill, I realised that one track could not cover the 40% hike since last year. I keep telling my son in Delhi: “Beta, yahan pahad mein inflation ko violin se nahi rok sakte.” For me, saving means skipping the *thukpa* at the corner shop once a week — but what about those who don’t even have a corner shop to skip?

Arre bhai, tumhaari baat sach mein dil ko chhoo gayi. Momo wala ka whistle aur electricity bill — uss din mera bhi yahi haal tha, chaay ki dukaan pe Udta Punjab ka gaana yaad kar raha tha aur ghar ka bijli ka bill dekh ke soch raha tha, "Yeh toh 'Dil Dhoondta Hai' phir se." Par jo log corner shop bhi skip nahi kar sakte, unke liye toh yeh mahina mahina ka circus nahi, seedha tamasha hai.
