The rulebooks say the edge must not exceed 1.56 inches, beta, but I have always asked my bat-maker for a thicker edge. It gives me more confidence against fast bowling, like a solid friend at your shoulder. In my state playing days, my custom bat had a sweet spot you could find with your eyes closed, raised a little higher to meet my tall stance. These official rules are good, but sometimes a little *khasiyat* of your own makes all the difference.
