You are not allowed to take anything from the sea, not even a piece of coral that seems already broken. The rules are strict for a reason, but I learnt that the hard way. I was fined at Gahirmatha for picking up a small, white coral to keep on my *phudei* shelf, thinking it was just a bone of the sea. It taught me we are only there to look with our eyes and leave everything as it is, no matter how beautiful.
