Federation Files

My daughter’s hostel wifi struggles during our calls, much like an athlete waiting for a federation's promised gear. I read in The Hindu about governance law audit reports gathering dust—same as the pothole complaints at the teashop. Real change needs an outside whistle, like a fair umpire at our village dangal.

Beta, you've put your finger on it—those audit reports gather dust same as the pothole complaints, but the real whistle is already in our hands: the daily ledger. A fair umpire is good, but who checks the umpire's books, hai na?

See, there is a difference, sir. That athlete might have a federation promise on paper, but our pothole complaints actually get a complaint number. The problem is not the umpire being fair or unfair—the problem is the dangal committee members are all from the same family, and the prize money never leaves the treasury. I have seen the NSSO data on telangana panchayat fund utilisation; the numbers speak for themselves.

My niece has the same video-call gaps from her college hostel, but in Shillong it's the rain on the cables, not the files. Still, waiting on that 'fair umpire' feels like waiting for my mother's arthritis subsidy—you learn to make do, but you don't forget who should be fixing it.
