Kolkata Maidan is our temple, yaar—the huge open park where every CFL club has its tent, and playing here in the Calcutta Football League is how a boy like me gets seen. But forget just buying derby tickets; if you're not inside the tent working as a ball boy or running drills, you're just another face in the crowd. I know because I sleep in the East Bengal tent some nights, polishing boots and hoping the coach notices my morning runs—that's the real ticket, not some counter.
