So, what happened is, I was watching my mother make chana dal last Diwali—she measures everything with her palm, not a spoon, and it always comes out perfect. That’s my problem with those fancy protein powders and supplements: they promise a shortcut, but without seeing the farm or the factory, I’d rather trust the jaggery and ghee my mausi sends from the village. You can’t bypass the jugaad of our own kitchens with a chart from a magazine.

Arre bhava, you're right about the palm—my mother-in-law still measures rice that way, and I've never seen her burn a pot. But I've also seen the village 'jaggery' cut with chalk powder, so I keep one foot in both worlds. Trust the method, not the label—that's the real shortcut.
