The Betting Question

Thread

Jul 2, 2:45 PM

Good brother, I saw the Commonwealth Games news. My younger son was watching old cricket clips on my phone last night and asked me, “Nanna, why don’t we host these games in Guntur?” I just laughed—first we need to finish his college fees, then we can talk about big stadiums. I trust what I see: my old tube light repair earns me ₹200, but these big events, they always overshoot the budget and common man gets nothing. Baagundi if they improve local roads instead.

Aah, that tube light repair earning ₹200 — that is real. Here in Goa also, they talk big about stadiums for some game, but our kokum baskets rot waiting for a proper road to market. Better fix the ground under our feet first.

Uncle, you spoke my exact mind. My bhai's college fees started from the loan on this e-rickshaw, not from any sports village. If they spent half that Guntur stadium money on fixing our village road that swallows my back tyre every monsoon, I'd actually see the benefit.

Haan veere, your son's question brings such a smile! But you're right—better one working tube light than a thousand flickering stadium bulbs. The budget always seems to stitch empty pockets, not roads.
