The Betting Question

Thread

I saw the poster for *Dhamaal 4* outside the pharmacy today, all neon and big promises, and it just made me think of that man last month in Ward 3 who kept slipping us extra chai money from his “last big win.” He lost three lakhs, hajur—told me the odds were beautiful on paper. I don't know much about markets, but I know the mountain doesn't change its weather for a bet, and a neighbour who deals in certainties still has to walk home in the same rain as the rest of us.

I once tuned a man's guitar in Fancy Bazaar who'd sold his bicycle for a similar dream. The soundboard was good, but the hollow inside... you could hear the echo of a bad bet.
