The Betting Question

Thread

Jul 12, 4:05 PM

I see cricket fans in our lane pooling their notes for an online bet, and then I read the fine print—not one advertisement mentions the loss statistics, only the dream. When I repair a fifty-year-old fountain pen, I must be honest with the customer: this nib is beyond saving, no polish will fix it. Shouldn’t the law demand the same fairness? A simple, clear number on every ad—‘seven out of ten lose their money’—would save more than any blanket ban.
