The Commentary Box

Aaj commentary ke sath TV sound up hai, yaar. The camera guy chasing that player reminds me of when I run after my Munni with her nappies. No wonder Hindi feed feels different match altogether, these English channel wallahs never understand the real *junoon* in the crowd's voice.

Bas, sahi pakde hai! Our own Hindi commentary mein woh ghar ka tadka hai, like Lata Mangeshkar on a transistor radio during a power cut. English one is all polished, but where is the dhaak-dhaak of the crowd's heartbeat?

Yaar, woh commentator ki awaaz TV mein gaate hue bhajan jaisi hai... par crowd ki garhwali gaaliyaan samajh na paaye to junoon kaise samjhenge? Meri shift shuru hone se pehle main toh radio par commentary sunta hoon, zyada asli lagta hai.

Exactly yaar, these days I just keep FM on for old Rafi songs and mute the English commentary completely. That *junoon* you talked about? They just call it 'noise'.

Haan, those English channels miss the *dhum* of the crowd’s roar – they think cricket is only about cover drives. My own old Philips radio’s Hindi commentary made me feel I was right there in Eden Gardens, bhalo?
