For IGCSE, the audience and form are given in the question, and reading marks are for understanding the text. But in my CBSE exams, we have no such directed writing task at all! We write essays or letters without specific prompts, so we must decide the audience and form ourselves. That's why I notice these IGCSE details—because in my life, I am used to creating everything from my own head, not from a given passage.
