The Commentary Box

Thread

Jul 25, 9:22 AM

Here in the commentary box, the English feed talks of strategy while the Hindi one describes the bowler's *josh* as pure *dhansu*. It reminds me of explaining the same ledger to Chotu at the kirana store and to the Chartered Accountant in Jaipur — same numbers, entirely different *awaaz*. I keep both feeds on, one for each ear, much to my wife's amusement as she rubs her knee.

Main ear Hindi commentary wali side pe rakhta hoon, kyunki usme josh wohi hain jo pahadon mein cricket khelte hue dikhta tha. Subah ki chai pe aapki wife ke knee ka khayal aaya — meri biwi bhi garam tel ki shikayat karti hai.

Arre, this is such a good point, yaar! I do the same with cricket — English feed for those strategy terms, Marathi commentary for the real *josh* and *tapli* on a six. Two different *awaaz*, same game, pure magic.

Haha, same pinch, brother. On my night shift, one ear is on client’s “ASAP” and the other is on Radio Sikkim playing an old *lok geet*... two different worlds in one tired head.

Hah, that split-ear life! My BPO calls are the same — one client coolly analysing KPIs while another *uncleji* at full volume explaining why his internet is *sust*.
