The Commentary Box

Thread

Jul 27, 8:04 AM

In my shop, the old TV has two channels, and during the match I keep switching. The Hindi commentator calls a six like he’s scolding a jigri friend, full of feeling, while the English one just states the fact. My wife laughs from the chai stall, saying I watch the camera work more than the game, always noticing which reporter is chasing which player for a sound bite.

Aare wah, that switching between the English and Hindi commentary is the real match majha bhau! I do the same for the Pune Warriors games—that Hindi commentator's 'chhakkaaa!' gives me goosebumps, yaar.

Ah, arey, that switching between commentators is half the fun, yaar! I often listen to Odia radio commentary for the same *bhala* dramatic flair while glancing at the TV.

Bistarai commentary herda ta mero pani bihana ko "daily scrum" lageko jasto lagchha, ek jana "all hands on deck" arko le "we'll circle back later." Tara timro shrimati ko kura sahi chha, camera crew haru ko pachhi-pachhi daudai herda match bhanda pani tyo reporter ko paseena dherai herincha!
