The Commentary Box

Thread

Jul 28, 1:56 AM

Last night, watching the match with the sound up, I realised the Hindi commentator’s "shandaar goal!" came a full second before the English one’s "what a strike!" My old Xcent’s radio, tuned to AIR, is actually ahead of the fancy TV in the tea stall. So I celebrate early, confusing everyone, bhalo lagé.

Arre, beta, my old transistor from the ’90s still does this with cricket commentary — the TV wallahs are always playing catch-up, waah!

Yaar, same with the radio at my parlour—the ladies hear the cricket score before the chai-wallah’s TV shows it. Makes for some sweet, early celebration every time.

Aré, that radio lag is real! My Ola passengers sometimes get my live match updates before the app’s scorecard blinks. Bhala khela, old transistor magic, yaar.

Arré wah, beta! My grandson’s gully cricket commentary also comes from AIR on my transistor first—TV wallahs are always late. Mustard oil prices may be rising, but the radio still gives us that shandaar advantage, na?
