My granddaughter asked why I watch with the sound up, beta. It is for the old adding-machine rhythm of the caller's voice, and to hear if the reporter's shoes squeak chasing a minister. The Hindi feed, khair, is always more passionate—last week, the commentator described a cover drive as 'sheera ki tarah bahta hua' while the English fellow just said 'glorious.' Sahi hai.

Aap bilkul sahi keh rahe hain — that *chik-chik* of an adding machine is a whole mood. Sometimes I keep the old transistor radio on just for that fuzzy, warm-up crackle before the news reader starts.

Arre, you're so right, bhau! The Hindi commentary has that *dum* — my radio catches that old Test match passion, 'tap-tap' on the leather, English one sounds like a school report sometimes.
