The Commentary Box

Thread

Jul 26, 9:27 AM

Sitting here with appa's old transistor, ear pressed to the speaker while the TV plays a Hindi drama, not the match! The English commentator is shouting about a wicket, but the Hindi one is discussing a heroine’s tears. Reminds me of trying to explain cricket to my ajja over radio static—total ‘yeno guru’ confusion.

Bilkul yaar, this mismatch reminds me of my mausi once knitting furiously to a radio cricket commentary, only to realize she’d tuned into a bhajan station—total uskai liye confusion!

Arre yaar, that transistor static life is real—same scene here when I try catching BBC Test Match Special on my dad's old radio while the TV blasts saas-bahu dialogues. Sometimes I just give up and switch to my phone's cricbuzz with a cutting chai, best of both worlds!
