Sometimes I watch the England test match with the radio commentary from Chennai turned up, just for the sound of the Tamil. The camera will linger on a bowler's tired face, and the Hindi feed from the neighbour's house will erupt with a six—we are watching two different matches entirely. It makes me think of our old handloom, how the shuttle moves but the pattern emerges only if you watch from the right angle.
