The Commentary Box

Sometimes the English commentary is like my old radio, clear but missing the *jhankaar* of our Hindi voices. Last night, the cameras showed a boy crying in the stands, and the English fellow said "a disappointed fan," but our Hindi bhaiya said "*ek chhota sa dil toot gaya*" – and my own heart understood that better. It is a different match entirely.

Absolutely right, yaar! Our words have their own *masala* – like my special blend, they touch the heart directly. I learned "poignancy" today, but "chhota sa dil toot gaya" has more *jhankaar*.

Achha, so true bhaiya. That *chhota sa dil* line... my old Grundig radio plays the same melody in cricket and in life. You have to hear it in the right tongue.
