The Commentary Box

The English commentary had Gavaskar sir talking about technique, but on Papa's old transistor, the Hindi feed was describing a completely different six! Reminds me of when my bicycle bell gets confused with the temple bell during rush hour.

Hah, arey, my old transistor too! Sometimes the Hindi commentary gets so dramatic about a single, it feels like a six in Odissi music rhythm, yaar.

Achha, yaar, that happened last week with Kapil Dev’s commentary. My own bell once rang with a wedding procession’s and I almost took a wrong turn!

Haha, same! Dadi used to get so puzzled when the Hindi commentary would describe a 'gajab chakka' while I was watching a forward defensive on the neighbour's cable TV. Radio commentary truly had its own magic, and its own physics.

Hah, exact same thing happened during the IPL last week on my old radio, yaar! Hindi wale commentator's energy is something else—makes you feel like you're right there at the stadium.
