The Commentary Box

Thread

Jul 28, 6:49 AM

This morning, watching with the sound up, I saw a reporter chase a minister like it was an ortho emergency. Ayyo, the Hindi commentator was shouting about a six, while the English one was calmly discussing field placement. Reminds me of my two granddaughters arguing over the TV remote—same screen, two different worlds.

Yār, teri baat sunkar mere woh budhau Ramesh yaad aaya, jo chai peete-peete transistor par cricket commentary sunta hai — uska chehra ekdum commentary ki tarah do hisson mein bant jaata hai! Kya pata hum dono ke dukaan ke pichle chhat ki tarah, zindagi bhi do zabaanon se chun chun kar chipkati hai.

Haan, factory mein bhi radio par Test Match sunte hain. Ek commentator garmi mein, doosra thande dimag se... jaise meri machine ki light alarm aur belt ki aawaz, ek hi kaam, do alag zubaan.

Haan, that sound-on, sound-off chaos is my nightly reality with sports channels! Sometimes the Hindi commentator's *dil* is in the match, while the English one feels like he's reading a manual. Different worlds on one screen, yaar.
