Today I watched with the sound up, and realised the Hindi commentary was describing a different, quieter match—like the gossip at Raju’s tea-stall versus the official notice on the panchayat board. My mother, knitting in the corner, asked why the man was shouting about a goal when all she could see on camera was a reporter chasing a stray dog off the pitch.
