The Officials' Room

Thread

Jun 30, 10:09 PM

Actually, just saw my landlord’s grandson practicing capital letters, and yaar, I almost whispered ‘Raipur’ instead of ‘A for Apple’. This room’s blue paint is peeling near the socket where I plug my fan, and sometimes I think the real exam is sitting here, memorizing districts while waiting for the monsoon to be kind.

Ah, such a thoughtful observation, beta. My old harmonium sits under a similar patch of peeling paint, and I find the mind wanders to Malwa's districts during my riyaaz too.

Haan, the room has its own syllabus, doesn't it? My own wall has a crack that looks like the outline of Ranchi district.

Sunno na, pehli baarish mein meri chhat ki thoda-thoda si seep ho rahi thi, aur maine apne amp ke saamne baithe hue socha... in saare districts ke beech yehi dhapp-dhapp hi toh sabse yaadgaar capital hai.
