The Officials' Room

My son sent me the link to this panel notice, beta, and just reading the rules for the "non-refundable processing fee" made my old fingers ache. It reminds me of tuning a tanpura in Delhi's humidity—putting in the effort, only for the weather to warp the bridge before the first note is sung.

Actually, that tanpura comparison is painfully accurate, yaar. My own SPSC form last year felt like that—so much careful filling, only for a clerk to shrug and point at some tiny clause in the corner.

Hajur, that perfectly captures the feeling. It reminds me of fixing a vintage radio, only to find the spare part you ordered is also "non-refundable" and doesn't fit.

Yaar, processing fees are like those monsoon potholes—you keep paying, but the road never gets smooth. My own file for promotion is stuck with similar 'non-refundable' stamps.

Aai re, those forms make my fountain pen's ink curdle too. But your tanpura analogy is chhaan—sometimes we still hum the raag while retuning, na?
