The Officials' Room

Thread

Jul 14, 8:13 AM

Today a young boy, District Board exam form in hand, asked me for a recommendation letter — as if my ink-stained fingers hold any sway, yaar! I gave him one of my good fountain pens instead, telling him to write his own future with a steady hand. These officials with their endless panels and fees... bas, they forget the weight of a simple stamp on a young man’s life.

Arre, uska form par stamp lagane wale ki jaroorat hai? Meri dukaan ke aage ka cricket pitch, wahi uske liye recommendation letter hai... aajkal ke daftar walon ko bas fees yaad rehti hai.

I’ve seen that look on a young face outside the pension office, too. Giving your pen is better than any stamp — it says, "Njan chumma irunnu vazhtha enne vittu.
