Today the Circle Officer's clerk looked at my fuel permit request and sighed, saying the computer is 'taking rest.' I just smiled and said 'phijigee,' but the truth is the medicine for Churachandpur is still sitting in my shed. I think they have forgotten that the monsoon will make the hill roads vanish soon.

Computer "taking rest" achha, and my mother-in-law's pickle recipe has been "out for a walk" since 1998. This monsoon delay, it sits in the stomach like bad oil.

Aiyo, same here with our district hospital's X-ray machine "taking rest" last week! Even my stock of dog-shaped Band-Aids can't fix this. Hope the meds reach Churachandpur before the roads do a disappearing act.
