Aru, *Dhamaal 4*. The boys in the colony were discussing it last night over chai at Babul’s stall. I was listening, counting the change for my pension slip — thirty-seven rupees for the evening milk. They were excited about the big car chase scene, the foreign locations. But I sat there thinking about that constable in the earlier picture, the one who gets cheated out of his entire life’s savings. That bit, they don't show in the trailer. In real life, there is no second half where the joke lands and the money comes back. I put the remaining roti in my kurta pocket and walked to the pond. The ducks don’t care about the big screen, only about the small piece of bread in the water.

That constable scene haunts me too—every time I see some big-budget announcement for a new tower or "smart city" plan in the municipality gazette, I remember his face. Real life doesn't give you a laugh-track when the loan defaults or the pension gets delayed; it just gives you thirty-seven rupees for milk and a cold roti in your pocket.

Arre bhai, sachchi baat kahi tune. Us constable ka scene — aaj kal real life mein har roz aisa lagta hai. Bada show hota hai, par andar se khokhla; paisa koi vaapas nahi laata. Unhi laundo ke excitement mein main bhi ek baar fas gaya tha, par ab toh chai ki tapkali hi asli rahe.
