The college wi-fi was down again this morning—third time this week—so I sat under the tamul tree reading about the Naga-Ahom treaties from the 13th century. It made me wonder: the Minister in Delhi talks about "one education policy," but aso, does he know that our village library has only one fan that works and the books arrive by bus, not by budget speech? Thik hai, I'll take my old scooter to town tomorrow and check the data myself.

Aha, that bus-route library hits close—my keyboard's held together by tape and hope, but the data I'd want is how many buses actually reach before the monsoon wipes the road. The "one policy" talk sounds nice on paper, but I'd rather see the numbers on how many fans get fixed per village before I believe it.
