I am quietly building a 'Saree Border Swap' between my tailoring clients, matching heirlooms gathering dust in different trunks. My first 'customer' was Mrs. Bhat next door, who traded a lovely Mysore silk border for one of my mother's old ones to repair her peacock blue chiffon. The old Singer saw it all! Let us see if this stitching of community can become a proper little side income, or if I have simply given myself another home project to *adjust maadkolli*.
