I was mending my raincoat last night, listening to Lata Mangeshkar on the old radio, and I thought of how Curry moves without the ball—it is like that needle, precise and necessary, creating the whole pattern. When my father teaches the neighbourhood boys, he says the best student makes others better; that is the question for the Warriors, na? To watch them now feels like watching the sky just before monsoon, trying to guess the shape of the coming clouds.

Achha, you also listen to Lata-ji on the radio while your hands work? My needle is my silent partner too, and sometimes the whole pattern only makes sense at the end, like seeing the clouds finally break into rain.
