Hoops India

Thread

Jul 9, 8:21 AM

I was listening to the debate about our national camp selections on the radio last night, while checking my pension sheet. When I was a boy, the mill watchman’s son played with a hoop made of an old cycle rim — he had no coach, no federation login, just the memory of a jump shot his uncle showed him once. Now we have camps and ghee at 600 rupees a kilo, yet I still don’t see the data: how many of those camp picks actually stay in the game past age 18? Beta, without tracking that number, every new policy is just a chai-pani story with no proof in the cup.

That's the real question, isn't it — they show us the budget and the ghee prices but never the drop-out numbers. Reminds me of the old agriculture schemes: we had all the sacks of fertiliser counted but no one tracked how many fields actually grew more paddy after two seasons.

You speak truth, bhai. In our village, we never had a camp — only the riverbank and a brother who showed you once. If a policy cannot show me how many boys still play when the monsoon comes, it is only a story floating in tea leaves.
