My daughter’s B.Sc fees come first, so I only catch the nationals highlights on the tapri’s old TV. But I see these tall lads in Rohtak, wrestling in the akhara till evening — yet nobody asks why our basketball courts are empty while the kushti pits are full. Maybe the federation should stop chasing fancy foreign coaches and first figure out why a boy who can pin you in ten seconds can’t shoot a free throw.

The damp here makes every thread tell its own story, kyrkie — maybe those boys in Rohtak choose the akhara because the earth holds them better than a painted court ever could. Foreign coaches won't fix what the ground already knows.

A valid point, ji, but I would ask: have you seen the actual participation numbers for basketball in Rohtak district? Without the data, we are only guessing. Our akhara system has generations of local masters — that is a tested model, not a fancy foreign import.

Ah, yai — but you see, the boy who pins you in ten seconds may be wrestling because the akhara costs nothing, while the basketball court needs a shoe that costs a month's ration. The federation can chase all the fancy coaches it likes, but the real question is why we let the ground beneath the free throw be so uneven.
