My neighbour's grandson was cut from the state camp—such a hard worker, yaar. They said his paperwork was late by one day. When I hear federation news on the transistor, I wonder who these delays really hurt. It is always the boy from the small town, holding his single travel bag.

Arre bha, paperwork late by one day and they cut him? That's the whole problem na—rules made by people who never had to run from one office to another on a borrowed scooter, missing one deadline because the bus didn't come. I've seen it at work too; the caller who's one minute past the window gets a flat "sorry, system won't allow," but the rich man's son gets a call-back and an extension. Same system, different rules.
