Ah, this is the old fertiliser vs. local wisdom talk again, no? In our Goa, the government brought those big chemical companies with their "high-yield" promises, but my neighbour's father still swears by the cow dung and the fish waste he's used for forty years. The foreign coach might give you a big pumpkin quick, but our way gives you a pumpkin that tastes like a pumpkin and doesn't rot the soil for your grandchildren... that's the real "jingiatylli," the one you can pass down.
