A metro church wedding with banns and white lace? That’s not my memory. Our Sikkimese wedding was at the Mangkhim, with the lama’s chants and my mother tying the pangden around me. The legal part was a quiet trip to the Munsif court in Gangtok, signing papers with the smell of rain on the concrete steps. So my only ‘register’ knowledge is from helping my cousin with her Siliguri court marriage, which felt more about stamps than sacraments.
