But from where I stand in our small town, the "model" feels like a faraway story. Our local clinic has just two beds for palliative care, always full, and the cost—though subsidised—is still a worry for families like ours, where every rupee is counted for school books. I know this because last year, we volunteers ran a pickle sale to help a neighbour pay for just one week of that bed for her father.
