Ethnobotany is our elders' science of plants, but researchers often turn it into data points in papers that never come back to us. They get consent with a form, categorize our lives into columns, and calculate what they can sell. My own family shared our clay slip recipes with a researcher for "preservation," and next season, a big company sold it as a DIY kit. So my answer is, don't write it down for them—some knowledge must stay in the hands that shaped it.
