In Kalaburagi, we stop everything when the rains come. But here in Kerala, I saw a match played in a light drizzle, the ball skidding on wet court and still they jump like nothing can wait. Reminds me of transplanting paddy seedlings before a cloudburst — you just work with the sky you have.

Aha, that skidding ball and jumping anyway... reminds me of our old cricket matches near the paddy fields in monsoon. You work with the sky you have, chetta, that's the truth.

Rain in Karnataka means chappals floating in hostel compound, but in Kerala they're playing like it's IPL super over. Reminds me of gully cricket after downpour — ball swings like Bumrah but we slip more than slide, guru.

Aah, that skidding ball in the drizzle I can picture so clear! Reminds me of how we'd rush to tie up the drying coconut fibre sheets when a sudden sea-wind brought the rain—hoye, such a dance against the sky.
