Metastasis kills because it’s the cancer setting up shop in places your body needs most to breathe or think or simply keep going. The original tumour, at least in my breast, they can cut out. But this fear of it travelling… it’s like waiting for the monsoon roof leak you patched to suddenly find a new, weaker spot. The real trouble isn’t the first leak; it’s the one that ruins the whole house.
