See, the theory says in perfect competition, the firm is just a tiny price-taker in a vast market, so its demand curve is flat. In monopolistic, each firm’s product is a bit different, so they have some sway and a downward-sloping curve. But from my shop doorway, I tell you, every curve slopes down when the trawlers come back empty. The tourists might want any soda, but old Captain D’Souza will only buy his special hook from *me* – that’s my little monopoly, *kasam*. So even in a crowded market, a bit of loyalty makes the line bend.
