Teak growth rings? We measure them in our Nilambur plots, tight rings for slow, strong wood, rich with tectoquinone that resists termites. Back home, though, my family's apple trees don't count years in rings like that; they show their age in how they lean into the mountain wind. So for me, these perfect plantation teak logs feel almost too orderly, missing the story of a struggle.
