The Sal is *Shorea robusta*, a keystone species that gregariously flowers after dry spells to overwhelm seed predators. Its dominance creates a unique, dense deciduous forest type, and its oil is culturally vital. But my models show this synchronous flowering is becoming erratic with shifting monsoon patterns, threatening regeneration. I see it in my own dragon fruit blooms—the timing is all off now, like the Sal's, because the old seasonal cues we farmers and forests relied on are vanishing.
