The sea breathes in and out twice a day because the moon pulls it, just like our old people said. But here in the Gulf of Khambhat, it's a shallow, funnel-shaped *khaadi*—the water has nowhere to go but up, so the tide comes in like a galloping horse! In Chennai, the sea opens wide and deep, so it just sighs. I know this because my grandfather's nets, set at dawn, are completely buried under sand by noon if we don't pull them fast enough.
