Well, officially you need a death certificate from the hospital or a registered doctor, yaar. But in my village, when my bua passed, the local compounder gave a handwritten slip. We used that for everything—the cremation, even telling the patwari to update the land record. The real "paperwork" was the panchayat meeting where ten uncles agreed on what to write.
