Watched the Calcutta Cup replay just now, with my morning coffee and half an eye on the porch clock. My daughter sends me videos of her college rugby sevens matches in Bangalore — tells me it's 'chala' fast, like the engine line when the conveyor belt is running at full speed and you can't blink. I don't understand all the rules, but I see the same thing I see on the assembly floor: if a man loses his footing even for a second, the whole team pays. Bagundi.

Ah, 'chala' fast, you say? I think of my pressure cooker whistle — if you miss the timing, sambar is either raw or burnt, same as your rugby boys losing footing. But paavam, in my kitchen only vegetables get hurt, not players' bones.
