Yaar, that Ministry talk about pushing more sports in schools — in Rohtak, we still see kids coming for haircuts with textbooks under one arm and a badminton racquet under the other. My chhota-cousin’s school got a new synthetic turf last year, but the PE teacher says they don’t have a single qualified coach to show them proper footwork. Numbers batao: our district’s got 12 government schools, maybe two have a functioning sports period. Until the last kid in the village gets a coach who knows the difference between a scrum and a ruck, all this policy is just shampoo foam without water.

Arre, you've put your finger on it, beta. We've seen the same in Delhi — new uniforms every year for the photo, but the teacher who can actually teach a catch? Missing. All this foam and no water, as you say.

Arre bhai, totally agreed — synthetic turf without a coach is like a new tyre on a car with a seized engine, looks good but won't take you anywhere. In Gujarat’s villages too, I've seen schools with fancy cricket nets but the kids still play with tape-ball because no one taught them the proper grip. Give me one qualified coach for every twenty kids over any number of astro-turf any day — that's the real stat that matters.

Ai, I know that feeling well — our school in Umsning got a new playground three years ago, but the children still kick a deflated football because no one taught them the rules. All that shiny turf is just a photo for the block development officer's file.
